What WoolOvers are thankful for

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks for stopping by!

Dating back to 1621, the first Thanksgiving celebration was shared by Native, American tribe, the Wampanoag, and the Plymouth Pilgrims. The Pilgrims served up a feast to the Wampanoag to thank them for their invaluable tutelage in cultivating corn, catching fish, extracting the sap from maple trees and avoiding poisonous plants. The first Thanksgiving celebrated two seemingly opposed groups of people co-existing harmoniously. Sadly, it remains one of the few examples of peaceful living between the European colonists and the Native Americans during Colonial times.

However, today’s Thanksgiving celebrations keep this harmonious spirit alive. Families come together, eat good food and enjoy each other’s company. In the US, Thanksgiving is widely considered to open the holiday season, and usher in festive joy.

Turkey, pumpkin pie, The Macy’s Parade, football, and of course Black Friday deals the following day – Thanksgiving is a wonderful celebration!

But, how many people take advantage of this opportunity to think about what they ought to be thankful for? And how many show thanks?

The pilgrims were thankful for the Wampanoag’s skills and experience. What are we thankful for today?

We asked the WoolOvers team what they are giving thanks for this season…

 Jake Tucker, Customer Services

My mum. She works unbelievably hard both inside of work and outside of work, and never expects anything back in return.

Aww, Jake! Good on you – all the love for the mums!

Sean McVeigh, Customer Services

Football….. Oh, I nearly forgot; my wife and children.

And do they all support your team, Sean?

Tilly Carter, Customer Services

I am grateful for my adorable, ginger puppy who I love coming home to every day, even though he has already chewed and destroyed six pairs of my shoes!

Puppy love! Just make sure he can’t reach any of your WoolOvers gear, Tilly! Now that would be a disaster!

Lawrence Werrett, Web Operations

Having a surname that’s easy to type, and my kids. Oh, and my wife too.

Love this! Yes, you’re right; “Werrett” is incredibly easy to type!

Art, Design

I am grateful for my daughter who has just learned to say “Dad.”

Simply lovely!

Anna, Design

I’m thankful for everything I have so far, and for the chance to wake up in the morning every day. Also, for coffee, which helps me get through the day!

What’s a world without coffee? A sleepy, grumpy world, that’s what!

Emily Dudson, Buying & Merchandising

I am grateful for the endless supply of biscuits in the B&M office.

We hear you loud and clear, Emily. Biscuits make the world a better place!

Rainer, Customer Services

I am grateful for the little things in life, simple things that keep me happy. And my kids – most of the time.

It’s the little things (and the little people) that matter!
